3.30 NLHE

This was a tournament with a starting field of 4826 and 720 made the money.

Hand 1: http://www.pokerhand.org/?5386494
30/60
Really, this is what you want to see with fours. Maybe I could have bet more on the river, although the hand range I was putting him on was a flush draw that made it on the river. I was quite surprised to see aces there.

Hand 2: http://www.pokerhand.org/?5386696
150/300 a40
Maybe I could have 3-bet pre, and I don’t think I can ever fold on that flop there. So I guess it was eventually getting all in anyway because the tard can’t fold ace high on the flop.

Hand 3: http://www.pokerhand.org/?5387120
2k/4k a500
My favorite hand 56 offsuit! Really, the only hand I was worried about is two pair, 69, and the spade draw. On the turn, a backdoor club draw was possible, but the thought didn’t really cross my mind. But given how retarded the opponent was, I feel like I could have extracted more, although he could have folded had I bet more on any of the streets.

Hand 4: http://www.pokerhand.org/?5387196
2.5k/5k a625 Whenever someone limp-shoves UTG, it annoys me. Also, given that this was the retard from the previous hand, it could very well be that this was done with KK or AA. I figured that either I was flipping or crushed and folded. He told me he had aces, but whatever.

Hand 5: http://www.pokerhand.org/?5388343
4k/8k a1000 I had been card dead for a few orbits and headcheezze had been playing really terribly (4-betting and 5-bet jamming with AQo and KJdd, respectively). I figured I usually have his range beat here and went with it. I felt like this hand was worth it because had I won, the stack I would have had would significantly increase my chances of final tabling with 8 tables left.

Hand 6: http://www.pokerhand.org/?5387281
4k/8k a1000 I probably should have folded pre here, not because of the first shove but because of the second shove. Call this a tilt call and chalk it up. Finished 65th, gg.

3.30 PLO

I had 11 tournament dollars, so I decided to join some random PLO tournament. Ten minutes into the tournament, I started regretting my decision… The field was 783 and 90 made the money.

Hand 7: http://www.pokerhand.org/?5388106
3k/6k
I probably should not be playing this hand since it gets into trouble a lot. But the best flop came down, and someone thought that bottom two was good.

Hand 8: http://www.pokerhand.org/?5388138
4k/8k Mistake? Possibly. But I’m okay with it.

Hand 9: http://www.pokerhand.org/?5388153
5k/10k This hand was with 10 remaining on the bubble. Maybe I should have c-bet the flop, but I decided to check. Then the jack fell on the turn, gg.

Hand 10:  http://www.pokerhand.org/?5388203
15k/30k
After being passive and watching people bust, there were 5 remaining. I felt that this hand was good enough to push pre with 4BB remaining. I probably should have been more aggressive in previous orbits. But oh well, 5th place.

3.30 NLHE tournament

Posted: under Poker.

This morning at 1:30 A.M. (although the tournament actually started at 1), I fired up a 3.30 NLHE tournament on Stars. This was due to boredom which can be blamed on Jeremy going to sleep early and I woke up from a long nap at 11:30 P.M. The field size was 1683 with 15 minute levels.

Hand 1: http://weaktight.com/2252448
600/1200 a125
I was under the gun with sixes. I guess folding pre was an option. Throughout the hand, I got the feeling that I should give up on it on every street. But as you can see, I didn’t…

Hand 2: http://weaktight.com/2252459
800/1600 a150
On the cutoff with a suited ace facing two limpers. Folding pre makes sense, as does raising. However, I decided to limp. I think this was the least I could have lost on the hand mostly because the opponent played too cautiously/passively.

Hand 3: http://weaktight.com/2254023
1500/3000 a300
This hand was so horrible. I folded preflop because something felt really bad. So I decided to fold and take a leak. When I came back, I was in shock and then started laughing.

Hand 4: http://weaktight.com/2253128
5k/10k a1k I felt that this hand was played pretty well. It might have been risky, but opp told me later that he had Q9ss, which was in the range that I assigned him.

Hand 5: http://weaktight.com/2253222
15k/30k a3k I played this hand sooooooo badly. I should have given up on the turn or played the flop more aggressively.

Hand 6: http://weaktight.com/2253223
15k/30k a3k This was my last hand of the tournament. Should I have just given up on the flop?

Commerce Session – April 2, 2010

Posted: under Poker.

There were only three notable hands tonight. The game is 200NL – 3/5 blinds with fixed buy-in of 200.

Hand 1: As 6s on the button
Four people limp, so I raised to 18. The blinds fold, and the limpers all call. The stacks were all around 200 except the guy to my right had about 1200.
Flop: 8c 3c 2c (Pot: 73)
Checks to me, I bet 45. Everyone folds, and the big stack calls.
Turn: Kd (Pot: 163)
Check to me, I bet 61. He folds.

I think this was unnecessary aggression and overplaying the button. But I figured that either he had two small clubs or top pair, etc.

Hand 2: As Qc on hijack
Four people limp. I limp, and the two people after me limp with the blinds limp/checking. I had a little under 300, BB had 150, and button had about 250.
Flop: Td Jc Kc
(Pot: 39)
BB bets 10, and everyone folds to me. I call, then the button calls with SB folding.
Turn: Kd (Pot: 69)
BB checks. I bet 45, and the two players call.
River: 6s (Pot: 204)
BB checks. I bet 75, button calls, and BB folds. Button shows K3hh, and I take down the pot of 354.

Maybe I should have raised the flop. Betting the turn, I’m only going to get a call from a king or flush draws. Meh.

Hand 3: Qc Qh at UTG+2
This was my first hand at this table; the previous table had broken. I open with a raise to 18, UTG+3 calls, and SB calls. I had around 550, UTG+3 had 100, SB had around 400.
Flop: Td 8s 2s (Pot: 53)
SB checks, I bet 28, UTG+3 pushes for 82 total. Then, after deliberating for a while, SB shoves for 380 total. I fold.
Turn: 7d (Pot: 245)
River: 3h (Pot: 245)
SB shows JJ and UTG+3 mucks.

I was actually quite happy folding here because I figured that I only have a small part of SB’s range beat. So either we were flipping or he had me crushed.

3.30 NLHE tournament

Posted: under Poker.

So, this morning at 2 AM, I fired up a 3.30 NLHE tournament on PokerStars. 2183 players started. Just wanted to post a few hands:

http://weaktight.com/2084904
Looking back at this hand, it was probably unnecessary aggression, but the bet on the flop was so small and MP1 had been playing so many hands. So I played back with a raise, and he folded.

http://weaktight.com/2085018
The way this hand was played, I think the bet sizing on the flop and the shove on the turn was okay. Just curious as to whether a preflop shove would have induced a call from CO.

http://weaktight.com/2085396
For this hand, I had 99 in the small blind. I had a moderate stack, and was facing a 3-bet from the button. I figured that a jam from the original raiser was likely, so I folded. But I probably should’ve folded anyway even if the original raiser would have flatted. Do you ever shove 99 there?

http://weaktight.com/2085443
This hand was actually scary because once I saw that I flopped the nuts, I got disconnected. I reconnected in time to see that OP had shoved lol. Thoughts on whether I should have shoved pre-flop instead of the flat?

http://weaktight.com/2085469
I should have folded on the flop there. But the bet on the flop seemed like a reluctant continuation bet. So instead of doing what I should have done, I raised, which worked out.

http://weaktight.com/2085481
The hand I went out on with 28 players remaining. :( Obviously, I should have folded preflop.

7-Game Mix Tournament

Posted: under Poker.

So I woke up randomly at 5 am and decided to play a 7-game mix tournament, haha. As you all know, it cycles through FLHE, FLS8, FLRZ, FLO8, FLSH, NLHE, and PLOH. I’ve decided to post a few hands:

Hand 1 – Razz: http://weaktight.com/1872404
Hand 2 – Omaha Hi/Lo: http://weaktight.com/1872439
Hand 3 – Pot limit Omaha: http://weaktight.com/1872471
Hand 4 – Stud Hi/Lo: http://weaktight.com/1872741

And then, shit started happening haha.

Hand 5 – Razz: http://weaktight.com/1872754

I reached the final table, and then it switched to the no limit Hold’em stage with 6 players left. After a few hands, I was the chip leader heads up with a 3-1 stack. Then, this hand (Hand 6) happened:  http://weaktight.com/1872808 Standard all in pre-flop flip (55-44), and I lost. At this point, we decided to chop and then play for first place. A few hands later, another pre-flop all in – SB raised, and then I potted, at which point he shoved. I insta-called with tens and lost (Hand 7): http://weaktight.com/1872807 – I was ahead 72-28. Oh well. I guess tens are the bane of my existence. I sacrificed class to make money, but what else is new?

As usual, I have no doubt about my hold’em play, but any input about the other hands would be appreciated.
