Hi, my name is Gene, and I'm a set-mining, short-stacking nit.
Date of Birth: May 28, 1986
City of Birth: Ann Arbor, MI
05/1986 – 06/1989: Ann Arbor, MI
I don’t really remember much. I ate, I pooped, I slept. Pretty much what I do these days, I guess.
07/1989 – 12/1996: Seoul, Korea
I was usually the biggest kid around, which naturally meant that I should beat up other kids. I also remember shooting a lot of people with BB guns. I also learned calculus when I was nine; I believe that’s when I peaked mathematically.
01/1997 – 12/1998: Auckland, New Zealand
These were probably my best years. New Zealand is a gorgeous place, and it definitely is on the top list of places I’d retire to… assuming I get a job and a wife. I guess the former is much more likely than the latter.
01/1999 – 07/2008: East Brunswick, NJ
So far, I’ve spent the most of my time in East Brunswick. Hence, if you think I’m a mean person, I blame New Jersey. A few good things came out of living there, I guess. I graduated from East Brunswick High School in 2003, and graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S. in mathematics in January 2008. There are a few people that I can call friends though that are either from and/or currently residing in New Jersey.
08/2008 – present: Los Angeles, CA
It doesn’t really get much better than this. I’m paid to go to classes and yell at undergraduates for being stupid. I’ve been here for two months, and it just really doesn’t get much better than this. Well. Maybe if I had a Ferrari.
I have dabbled in almost all areas. Clarinet is my best means of producing tolerable sound and I can throw a baseball pretty fast (around 90 mph) with accuracy – give or take a few inches. I’ve also enjoyed running over people on the football field; I played or at least tried to play RB. So if you see me with something hard that fits comfortably into my hand, it is advisable not to make any unpleasant remarks to me. In the recent years, I started playing a decent amount of Texas Hold’em. I fancy myself to be a decent player, and when I’m not lazy, I try to post hand histories. And now that I’m in LA, the Commerce Casino is 30 minutes away and Vegas is 4 hours away. =D
